CHICAGO — More details are being released about a fugitive found in Holland over the weekend.

Carleous Clay, 33, of Lansing, Ill., was arrested Sunday afternoon in Holland and held on a parole violation warrant.  According to the FBI, he was charged Monday in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of kidnapping.

The FBI says that a woman walked into her Lansing, Ill. home on the night of Sept. 17. A burglar was in the home and, using a hammer, forced her into the trunk of her car.  He drove her and the car to Munster, Ind. and used two ATM machines.  His picture was taken at both machines.

The woman’s vehicle was next seen at about 2 a.m. in Burns Harbor, Ind.  The woman was found in Burns Harbor as well.  Her vehicle was then spotted later in the day in Holland.

After the surveillance photos from the ATM were shown on Chicago TV, two anonymous tips identified Clay to investigators.  The FBI in Quantico, Va. then also confirmed Clay’s DNA was taken from the victim’s body.

Clay was arrested in Holland Sunday afternoon.  He is currently in the Ottawa County Jail awaiting extradition.

Clay had just been released from prison in May after serving a four to ten year sentence for armed robbery in Kent County.
