HOLLAND, Mich. – A Meijer service counter was robbed Friday morning and the suspect may be the same person responsible for a bank robbery in the same area earlier this week.
The store at the corner of 16th Street and Waverly was robbed Friday about 9:00am. Monday, at about the same time, the Macatawa Bank at 699 E. 16th Street, very close to the Meijer was also robbed.
Police say the man entered the store and passed a note at the service counter demanding cash. He implied that he had a weapon, but no weapon was seen. He fled the scene on a bicycle.
Holland Police say after this morning’s robbery, they were able to identify a 59-year-old suspect. They got a search warrant for his residence and have arrested him for the Meijer robbery. They are investigating him for other robberies, including the Macatawa Bank robbery and a recent robbery at the Speedway gas station.
