HASTINGS, Mich. -- A man is in custody after Hastings Police say he threw a large rock through the windshields of three cars at the Hastings Police Department.
The incident happened Wednesday night at about 9:45pm.
An officer came out of the building and saw the suspect, Chase Slater, 19, throw a basketball-sized rock through the windshield of a police vehicle in the parking lot, a police release said.
The officer reportedly told Slater to lie down, but Slater refused and started coming towards the officer with a rock and demanded that the officer shoot and kill him.
The officer used his Taser and was able to subdue Slater.
Three cars were damaged. Two of the cars were police vehicles and one was an officer's personal vehicle.
Slater was taken to Pennock Hospital for treatment and was released to the Barry County Jail. He was arraigned on various charges Thursday afternoon.
