Police: Driver in double fatal crash was speeding in excess of 90mph

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – The cause of a crash that killed two Benton Harbor women on I-196 in August has been determined.

The South Haven Police have determined that Lydia McIntosh was driving in excess of 90 mph when she struck a guard rail on southbound I-196 in South Haven Township.  McIntosh and her passenger, Raven Spencer, 19, were both killed.  Police also determined that McIntosh was not under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substances.  Three other women in the car were injured.

The crash happened just before 5:00am on Saturday August 29 on I-196 south of the M-140 exit.
