GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man serving time in Muskegon on a drug offense has been charged with a 2008 murder in Grand Rapids.
Najee Sharif Wilkins, 23, was charged Friday with Open Murder and Felony Firearm in the death of Khiry Jelon Walker, who was then 17-years-old. Walker was shot in the south end of Martin Luther King Park in Grand Rapids at about 7:00pm on November 25, 2008.
Wilkins was arraigned on the murder charges Friday and bond was denied. He will next be in court on October 1st.
Wilkins was in the West Shoreline Correctional Facility in Muskegon for a January 2014 drug conviction.
