FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Kade Scivicque faced plenty of pressure this summer playing in the College World Series with LSU.
The tension of the Midwest League playoffs doesn’t seem to faze him.
The Detroit Tigers’ fourth-round pick broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with an RBI double — and A.J. Ladwig surrendered just one run and struck out seven in seven innings as the West Michigan Whitecaps swept the Fort Wayne TinCaps out of the MWL postseason with a 2-1 win in Game 2 of their best-of-three first round series.
The Whitecaps now advance to the Eastern Division Championship Series to face the Lansing Lugnuts, who swept the Great Lakes Loons in their first round series. Game 1 of the best-of-three EDCS is Saturday at Fifth Third Ballpark.
