MUSKEGON, Mich. — A 26-year-old man has been charged in the Montague Township hit-and-run death of bicyclist Susan Cummings.
Ronnie Jo Claflin, of Muskegon Township, turned himself in and is facing a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, according to the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office. Online jail records show he’s currently being held on a $1,500,000 bond.
Cummings, 50, of Lake Orion, was part of a large group bicycling across Michigan when she was struck and killed the morning of Aug. 8 on Fruitvale Road in Montague Township.
Muskegon County deputies say that Cummings was struck from behind and was dragged down the road for “quite some ways.” The group had about 100 people riding.
