KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The man who damaged a Kalamazoo Public Safety patrol car while taking a “selfie” has met with police.
The dashcam photo of the man was distributed on Friday August 14th. It showed the man on the hood of the car taking a selfie on the morning of August 9. The roof of the car suffered some damage.
Public Safety officials said on Tuesday that the 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident contacted police on Monday and met with Captain Jim Mallery voluntarily. He was cooperative and told Mallery that he never intended to damage the car. He apologized for his actions.
Police are still determining whether or not criminal charges are warranted.
