CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. – A man from Lawton tied to two bank robberies now faces federal charges.

Douglas Scott Wolthouis, 51, faces 1 count of armed robbery for the April 2015 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank branch in Kalamazoo. Accordering to documents, he  got away with $60,000 after allegedly saying he had a bomb.

Wolthouis also will be charged in federal court for  the June 2015 robbery of the Chase Bank in Battle Creek. According to indictment records, a total of $1,812 was taken. Wolthuis also claimed he had anthrax during that incident, which prompted the Hazmat team to investigate.
