GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–The victim of Sunday’s fatal shooting neara gas station has been identified.

Police said 34-year-old Jason Lewis Jordan was shot near the intersection of Franklin St. and Eastern Ave SE. Officers were called to St. Mary’s Hospital around 7:20 a.m. Sunday after being told he was being treated for a gunshot wound. Jordan died a short time later.

The victim was in a vehicle near that intersection when police said someone approached and fired shots into it, hitting him. That’s when Jordan was apparently rushed to the hospital.

Witnesses said they saw someone carrying a gun who ran away near a bus stop on Franklin St. So far, no suspects have been named in the shooting.

The Grand Rapids Police Department’s Major Case Team is investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to call (616) 456-3400 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345. Silent Observer can also be reached confidentially at www.silentobserver.org.

Officers initially reported Jordan to be 24-years-old, but released his accurate age when they publicly identified him.
