16-year-old pinned in car following crash along 3 Mile

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A 16-year-old driver was taken to the hospital after a single car crash Monday evening.

It  happened near 3 Mile Road and McGuire in Grand Rapids Township.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department tells FOX 17 a 16-year-old driver lost control of a Toyota sedan and flipped the car. Authorities said the driver was pinned in the car for about 20 minutes before personnel was able to get them out. The driver was unresponsive for a time, but soon was awake and answering questions from authorities.

Police said the teen is expected to survive. No one else was hurt.
