Woman with BAC 5 times the legal limit crashes car

PAW PAW, Mich. — At approximately 12:44 PM, a 42 year-old woman crashed her vehicle into another that had stopped at a stoplight. The collision happened at the intersection of South Kalamazoo Street and Fadel Street, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s say that the 42 year-old driver’s preliminary breath test indicated a 0.39 BAC. This is her second arrest for OPI. In addition, she was also found to have a suspended license and open intoxicants in her vehicle.

The 42 year-old driver was placed under arrest for OWI 2nd offense, DWLS, and transporting open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. She was transported to the Van Buren County Jail.

The 42 year-old driver was driving a white 2003 Hyundai Sonata; the victim was driving a white 1995 Oldsmobile Sierra.

The names of either the driver or the victim are not being released yet. No injuries for either party are being reported at this time.

In Michigan, you have to have a BAC of at least .08to receive a OWI, putting the 42 year-old driver at nearly 5 times the legal limit.
