Two sent to hospital after accident

POLKTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two men were taken to local hospitals after a car accident.

The crash happened just after 11 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 68th Avenue and Leonard Street.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said that the driver of a 2001 Grand Prix crossed the center line and hit a 2011 Chevy Aveo.

Ernest Hamstra, 28, of Allendale was reported by police that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The other driver, Timothy Becker, 50, of Muskegon was wearing his and for a short time was pinned in his vehicle.

Officers say that both were treated at the scene and taken to local hospitals. Hamstra is in serious condition while Becker is stable.

The accident is still under investigation.
