GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Airports, airlines, and the Transportation Safety Administration have teamed up in recent years to facilitate what are called honor flights, which carry veterans to Washington DC to view the nation's memorials. The most attention is paid to World War II veterans, since an estimated 640 WWII vets die every day. Honor flights from Gerald R. Ford International Airport and other airports hope to give as many living vets as possible a chance to reflect on their service at the World War II Memorial in the nation's capital.
