ALLENDALE, Mich. — A man is said to be in stable condition, following a two-vehicle crash in Ottawa County early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and 68th Avenue, that’s in Allendale Township.  Police say a Ford pickup truck driven by Lucas Merritt, 50, stopped at the flashing red light at the intersection.  He then attempted to continue through the light, but struck another vehicle.

That vehicle was driven by Forrest Vanderzwagg, 38.  Vanderzwagg was trapped inside.  The road was closed as emergency responders attempted to get him out of the vehicle.  He was rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries, but was said to be in stable condition.

Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
