Grand Rapids Harley Davidson Heroes of the Week: Officers Soto & Nielsen

Posted

MESQUITE, Texas -- Each week, Grand Rapids Harley Davidson and West Michigan’s Most Wanted recognize a member of law enforcement who’s gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the community they serve in.

This week, two officers from Texas are being recognized following their response to a fiery crash that likely saved a life.

The response was caught on a cruiser dash camera, showing 25-year-old Hector Valles unconscious in the front seat following the crash.

Officers Ryan Nielsen and Autumn Solo only had seconds to pull him from the burning vehicle.

Firefighters that assisted said the flames from the burning vehicle were likely between 800 and 1,000 degrees during the response, along with toxic smoke from the burning vehicle hindering the response.

In the end, the officers were able to pull Valles to safety, who's still recovering in the hospital after the crash.

You can see the officers' response to the praise that they've received following the crash, and the response itself in the video above.

Congratulations to Officers Neilsen and Solo for their nomination for the week of April 25th.
