Recalled: Electric leaf blowers that can spark, catch on fire

BETHESDA, Md. — The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced new recalls this week, two of which concern popular leaf blowers & vacuums.

Below is the information on the two recent recalls.

Homelite electric blower vacuums — The blower vacuum can overheat, spark and catch on fire posing fire and burn hazards.  About 823,000 units are impacted in the United States, as well as 41,000 in Canada.  Homelite has received 1,369 reports of blower vacuums sparking, arcing, smoking or burning, including one report of minor injury.  Refunds are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.

Recalled Expert Gardener blower

Expert Gardener electric blower vacuums — The blower vacuum can overheat, spark and catch on fire posing fire and burn hazards.  About 225,000 units are impacted.  These blowers are sold exclusively at Walmart.  The manufacturer has received 16 reports of incidents, but no injuries are involved.  Refunds are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.
