KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. -- Investigators are trying to determine whether two shooting incidents Wednesday night and early Thursday morning in Kalamazoo County are related.

The first happened at about 10:08 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Phelps Avenue, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.    Police say a suspect fired multiple gunshots at a home and then ran to a nearby vehicle and fled.

Seven people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, but no injuries were reported.

The second incident was reported at about 3:21 a.m. in the 2900 block of Crystal Lane in Oshtemo Township, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department.

Just like in the first incident, a suspect fired eight gunshots at an apartment and then ran to a nearby vehicle and fled, deputies said in a release.

In this case, four people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, including a sleeping child.  No injuries were reported.
