GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police were investigating gunshots fired and possible gang activity outside a Grand Rapids elementary school Wednesday evening.
It happened around 6:40 p.m. outside Harrison Park Elementary School in the 1400 block of Davis Street NW.
Grand Rapids Police said it was originally called in as a person shot, but on arriving at the scene they found the alleged victim had not suffered a gunshot wound. Police said local gang members were playing basketball and opposing gang members drove by and fired a couple of rounds into the air. Everyone then scattered from the scene.
Police said they made contact with three of the basketball players, but no one from the opposing gang in the car. They said no one is cooperating and the incident remains under investigation.
