GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Grand Rapids officers have arrested two people for assault following a domestic disturbance that led to a shooting in a home in the 1600 block of Jefferson Avenue SE Wednesday morning.

Authorities say officers were dispatched to the home following a party when intoxicated individuals started fighting.

Investigators say a woman hit her husband over the head with a vase, causing a laceration to his head.

Police say a neighbor living in the upper level of the home attempted to help the situation, but the efforts didn’t help.  The husband is accused of firing a shotgun into the upstairs apartment of the home after the confrontation.

The only injury reported was the laceration to the husband’s head.

Police say the husband was arrested on a preliminary assault with intent to murder charge, the wife was arrested for assault.

Names of the individuals involved haven’t been released pending prosecutor review and arraignment.
