BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 3-year-old girl was killed Wednesday morning after a fire at an Amish residence in Butler Township, according to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
Emergency crews responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Crandell Road at about 10:51 a.m.
Officials said family members told them the child was trapped inside. Crews attempted to enter two different areas of the home, but were pushed back by smoke and flames in both areas, according to a release.
After the fire was contained, officials located the girl’s body in the kitchen area at approximately 12:27 p.m.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was not released.
