GRAND RAPIDS, MI. – Green Beer and leprechauns are taking over the streets for one of the biggest parties in the city.
In honor of the five-year milestone, Irish on Ionia has expanded its geographic footprint for a third consecutive year. Stretching up Ionia from Oakes to Fulton, and across Weston from Ionia to Commerce, the event will now consume three city-blocks, raising capacity for more than 20,000 attendees.
The event kicked off at Mcfadden’s with a morning buffet, live music in the afternoon, and everyone we spoke with seemed to be in it for the green beer.
Despite the increased capacity, BarFly will continue the zero-waste policy that was implemented in 2014. By using all biodegradable products, nearly 100 percent of the waste produced at Irish on Ionia is diverted from landfills and turned into soil.
Whether you’re going green, wearing green, or you just like to drink green beer; Irish on Ionia is a St. Patrick’s Day paradise.
