GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–The Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) said two floors of Viewpointe Apartments were evacuated Thursday morning after a fire started in a sixth floor apartment.
The GRFD were called to the apartments, located at 2745 Birchrest on Grand Rapids’ southeast side, around 9 a.m.
No one in the unit was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Large fans were brought in by the GRFD to ventilate the building.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
