KEELER TOWNSHIP, Mich.– A deputy was injured while on duty in Van Buren County.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department said it happened March 12 in the 78000 block of 60th Street at around 12:40 p.m.
Police took a 21-year-old man into custody following a domestic assault complaint. He was put in handcuffs and placed in the back of the patrol car.
The suspect, Jared Sinclair, 21 became belligerent and tried to kick out the windows of the cruiser. Police said Sinclair had to be re-handcuffed and that’s when he began kicking and grabbing at the deputies. Police said he also spit in the face of one of the officers.
One of the deputies sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released.
Sinclair was arrested for domestic assault, resisting and obstructing police, assault on a police officer, as well as warrants out of Missouri.
