GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- Kent County Road Commission is hoping we don't see a big storm starting early Sunday morning, but they're ready to get to work if the snow comes down.

Friday before crews left for the weekend, all the trucks were restocked with sand and salt. We are still above average with a little over 55 inches of snow this winter.

Kent County Road Commissioner, Jerry Byrne, expected the winter to be much worse after the nearly 33 inches of snow we got in November. Byrne says the 3-8 inches we are supposed to get early Sunday morning is no surprise to a Michigander. The county says there are other variables in the equation that will dictate on how bad the roads could get.

"We are talking about temperatures dropping down to 5 or 6 degrees on Monday morning so you know salt isn't going to do that good. It's going to be a balancing act depending on the velocity of the snow, tenacity of the snow,  and the temperatures. The National Weather Service are also talking winds up to 20-25 miles per hour blowing and drifting snow," said Byrne.

Kent County Road Commission says everyone should take caution Monday morning when driving to work, and take extra time to get their safely.
