VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputy has been injured in a crash on I-94 early Thursday morning.
The accident happened near mile marker 58 in Paw Paw Township at around 2:30 a.m. Dispatchers say the deputy’s cruiser was struck by at least one other vehicle. Extremely icy conditions due to the freezing rain likely contributed to the crash. Eastbound lanes are closed as of 3:30 a.m.
A second Van Buren County cruiser was hit by a semi at mile 56 on westbound I-94 later in the morning. No one was injured in the crash, but the highway’s westbound lanes were closed while the crash was cleared.
