TACOMA, Wash. -- A group of neighbors in Tacoma took the law into their own hands to rescue a dog they believed was being abused and starved by her owner.
According to Q13 Fox News, the four people took Kiki, a Lab mix, out of her owner's backyard and took her to a vet for help.
“The dog could barely stand up she was so weak,” Autumn Niesz-Ramos, one of the people who took Kiki, said. “She was shaking, she was so cold.”
Niesz-Ramos said she wasn't going to wait for Animal Control to respond.
“I don’t think I stole her, I think I saved her,” Niesz Ramos said.
However, Kiki's future is uncertain. Q13 reports that she is no longer at the Humane Society, and her owner likely already picked her up. Officials are conducting their own investigation into the alleged abuse, and may take the dog back depending on its outcome.
