Suspects facing charges after meth bust

Posted
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Two suspects will face charges for operating and maintaining a meth lab after an enforcement team searched a residence and found a methamphetamine operation Tuesday night.

The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team initiated an investigation after numerous citizens complained of drug dealing taking place in the 900 block of East Stockbridge Avenue. As the team made way into the house at 8 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle parked outside fled from the location. As officers entered the house, they discovered seven adults and one 9-year-old child inside.

Inside the residence there were 21 one-pot meth labs and 14 of those were located in a kitchen freezer. The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team also found finished meth product, components used in manufacturing meth, marijuana and a bolt-action rifle.

Kalamazoo police identified two female suspects, ages 25 and 26, who will face multiple charges in the investigation.

A 9-year-old girl who was inside the home at the time of the search is the daughter of the 26-year-old suspect and will be placed in protective custody.

The person who fled the residence was driving a 2001 four-door Buick with Michigan license plate DDJ-0437 and is described as a black male in his 20s with short hair. Anyone with information is being asked to contact KVET at (269) 337-8880.
