WATERVLIET, Mich.– A Berrien County deputy is recovering this morning from minor injuries, after being involved in a crash overnight Thursday.
According to Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on duty in a fully marked squad car was driving northbound on North Main St. at around midnight Thursday. He went through the flashing yellow light at the intersection of North Main St. and West St. Joseph Ave. And at the same time, a 63-year-old woman from Watervliet Township was traveling westbound on St. Joseph Ave., when she went through the flashing red light–crashing into the deputy.
The 27-year-old deputy sustained minor injuries, and was treated and released from the hospital, cleared to go back to duty. The woman wasn’t hurt, and said she wasn’t paying attention to her driving. No word on any charges.
