’10 Dollar Thursday’: A quick and easy holiday meal

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.,-- Shari Steinbach from Meijer visited the Fox 17 studios to show us a delicious dish with tender chicken and mushrooms. It only takes 30 minutes  to create this family-pleasing meal! It’s even delicious enough to serve for a holiday get together!

Creamy Dijon Chicken with Mushrooms

Makes 4 servings

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder – on hand

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed – on hand
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper – on hand
1-1/4 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut crosswise into 1/2-inch slices - $3.74
1 tablespoon olive oil – on hand
1 package (8 ounces) sliced mushrooms – $1.29
1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup) - $0.50
1/2 cup dry white wine - $0.64
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell’s® Healthy Request® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup - $1.69
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard – on hand

  1. Stir the garlic powder, thyme and black pepper in a small bowl.  Season the chicken with the garlic powder mixture.
  2. Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned, stirring occasionally.  Remove the chicken from the skillet.
  3. Add the mushrooms and onion to the skillet.  Cook for 4 minutes or until tender-crisp, stirring often.
  4. Stir the wine in the skillet.  Stir in the soup and mustard and heat to a boil.  Reduce the heat to medium-low.  Return the chicken to the skillet.  Cook until the mixture is hot and bubbling.
