BATTLE CREEK, Mich – Officers with the Battle Creek Police Department say a 39-year-old suspect is in custody after several vehicles were vandalized earlier this week.

The initial crimes occurred near a business at 354 Capital Avenue SW on Monday.  Detectives say surveillance video was obtained showing a suspect shooting a weapon that damaged windows to several vehicles in the area.

The person matching that suspect description was located by officers on Friday in the area of Captial Avenue and Goguac Street, armed with a BB gun.

The 39-year-old was detained and later confessed to the crimes earlier this week, along with four additional incidents involving destruction of property.

Police say the same suspect is also connected to an armed robbery complaint in the McCamily parking structure last week.

The suspect’s name hasn’t been released pending formal arraignment.
