OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A two-car accident Friday afternoon left a teenager hospitalized with serious injuries.

At 3:56 p.m. Friday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash with injuries at the intersection of State Road and 80th Avenue in Polkton Township. Jordan Kuperus, 18, of Ravenna was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on 80th Avenue when he ran the stop sign at the intersection and was hit broadside by a 2001 Chrysler driven by Roger Holman, 70, of Nunica that was westbound on State Road.

Kuperus was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he was listed in serious condition later Friday.

Holman was not hurt.

Both Kuperus and Holman were wearing seat belts and were their vehicle’s only occupant at the time of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
