GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two men have been arrested in connection to an attempted break-in at the Marathon gas station in Grand Rapids.
Officers responded to the alarm at the location on Franklin Street around 1:45 a.m. on November 25. They found that two windows were broken, and saw the 45-year-old suspect in the parking lot.
Police say the suspect went around to the back of the building, but the officers caught up with him and arrested him.
The officers also found a set of footprints in the snow and followed them to a vacant house on the same street. A sergeant and police dog were called in to search the home, and found a 25-year-old suspect inside. He surrendered when the dog started barking.
Both suspects were arrested for attempting to break into the gas station and they were also charged on outstanding warrants. The 25-year-old suspect was also charged with unlawful entry into the vacant home.
Police say it does not look like the suspects were able to get into the store before officers arrived to the scene.
