ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Regular firearm deer season begins this Saturday, and one West Michigan hunter has invented what he believes to be the best way to put venison in your fridge.
Dave Ver Burg, inventor of "Deer on a String," believes it will will help hunters tag a trophy deer this season.
“What I put on the string here is either doe in heat or the regular doe urine,” said Ver Burg.
String soaked in buck urine is also available. All of the urine comes from Buck Stop Lure Company.
It's 30 feet of biodegradable cotton string soaked in deer urine, made for bagging any deer. For $15 dollars, Dave says it’s a simple way to take home a trophy buck.
All you do is lay the string on a tree branch or even on the ground, bringing deer right up to your tree stand.
“If people have used dental floss, they know how to use this product,” said Ver Burg.
Veteran hunter Joe Potgeter said hunters who have used it swear by it.
“They're awe-struck when they see it,” said Potgeter. “They're like, ‘You have to be kidding' and 'How come nobody thought of this already?'”
Deer enthusiasts believe this is the perfect time to experiment with this type of product because it’s the rutting season, meaning deer are in heat.
