ARLINGTON, Va. — The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety is out with its annual rankings for booster seats, and this year saw a record number of seats earning the BEST BET classification. There are, however, models that the agency is not recommending for parents.
“Among the 41 models new for 2014, there are 27 BEST BET seats — more than in any prior year — and three GOOD BETs,” the agency said in a press release on Thursday. “Eight boosters are in a category the Institute calls ‘Check Fit,’ and there are three new models that the Institute doesn’t recommend using as boosters.”
Boosters are supposed to make adult belts fit children better and are for kids who have outgrown their forward-facing restraints.
