Griffins drop Matinee Game, still winless at home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Five home games into the 2013-2014 season -- and the Grand Rapids Griffins' home-ice advantage at Van Andel Arena isn't proving to be any sort of edge.

The Chicago Wolves scored three answered goals to get a 3-1 win over the Griffins on Wednesday, keeping Grand Rapids winless (0-4-1) at home this year.

Coach Jeff Blashill says he thinks the team is playing good hockey on both sides of the puck, but there's a definite need for game-to-game consistency.

"You can't have the nights in between when you don't have the two-way hockey because you're not gonna win every night you play great hockey," he said after Wednesday's loss. "You can't have the subpar efforts."

Grand Rapids (3-4-1) are at Milwaukee and Rockford this week. Their next chance for the season's first home win comes November 12 against Lake Erie.
