Finding a forever home for Nino

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Nino is an incredible young man who says he puts everyone else before himself as he searches for a mother to love and a family to call his own.

It’s hard to believe the 13-year-old only started learning English in 2011, entering the foster system at age 10, he spoke only Spanish after the passing of both of his parents.

“Since I have lost my family I want to make my dad and my mom proud, I don’t want to make them sad or disappointed through all my life,” Nino.

Recovering from the loss of losing everything, Nino is now searching for a loving mother.

“I want to be respectful to others, I don’t want to be a kid who cares about their own self, no matter if he gets adopted, he does whatever he wants,” Nino said. “I want to be a kid that follows ruled throughout life.”

This selfless 8th grader loves music and any sort of exercise or sports and dreams of joining the military.

“I want to be in the Army,” he said. “I want to know how to protect other people.”

After college and the Army Nino dreams of becoming an actor.

“I want to be like a super hero like Captain America, Thor, Hulk- I know every single character,” he said.

If Nino had one wish it would be a simple trip to the lakeshore.

“I would like to go out to the Lake Michigan because I have never seen,” he said. “It’s going to be a surprise to me, because I have never seen the whole lake.”

But most of all he wants a family to love unconditionally.

“I would think more about them than myself, I would put them first, then my religion and then myself,” he said.

If you're interested in adopting Nino or any other child through the Michigan Foster System, there is an event Thursday at D.A. Blodgett in Grand Rapids called Images of Adoption you'll want to attend.

It's a way for potential adoptive parents to see the children who are available for adoption and learn more about the process.

If you’re interested in adopting Nino or any other youth from the Michigan Foster System, call Orchards Children’s Services at 855-694-7301.

Adopting any child through the Michigan Foster System comes at absolutely no cost.
