Muskegon bus system expands with new routes

Posted

MUSKEGON, Mich.-- Getting around Muskegon county is becoming more convenient as the county's bus system expands its routes.

As part of the Muskegon Area Transit System's regional connection initiative, buses will now run to Montague, Whitehall, Ravenna and Holton.

MATS received a $1.5 million grant to make this expansion happen. But they are not getting money from any communities. MATS is trying to make the MARC bus system self-sufficient with fares.

It's a pilot program which means transit officials will evaluate it in six months.

MATS officials invite the public to attend a seminar to become more acquainted with public transportation at these periodic seminars.
