LOWELL, Mich — The first round of the state football playoffs brings with it several regular season rematches, like in the game of the week where East Grand Rapids (6-3) plays at Lowell (8-1) in division 3.
These two long time OK White rivals have met only once in the postseason as the Red Arrows generally participate in division 2. 2004 was the other playoff meeting and just like tonight that one was played at Red Arrow Stadium, Lowell won, 28-14, to sweep the season series. The Arrows will try for the same tonight after a 30-25 win at East Grand Rapids back on September 12th.
Another game featured on the Blitz tonight is another rematch as OK Bronze schools collide when Forest Hills Northern (7-2) travels to Cedar Springs (8-1). The Red Hawks won the regular season battle back on October 10th on the way to their first conference title since 1978. Both defenses played well in the regular season match-up, but but both teams have shown the ability to score as well.
Our Blitz Battle is not a rematch, but should be a good game as West Michigan Conference champion Oakridge (8-1) plays at OK Silver Conference champ Hopkins (8-1). The Eagles have won eight straight after a season opening loss to West Catholic (9-0), The Vikings have won seven consecutive following a week two loss to Allendale (5-4).
Other games that you can check out on the Blitz tonight, back at it’s regular scheduled time of 10:30 P.M., include:
Traverse City West (5-4) at Rockford (7-2)
Hudsonville (5-4) at West Ottawa (5-4)
Mattawan (6-3) at Battle Creek Lakeview (7-1)
