1. Northview High starts school with a new look

The front entry of Northview High features a 3-dimensional graphic on the floor that the class of 2013 donated. The lockers are also chest-high so there is complete vision around the area. The school also features areas with chairs and tables to allow students to work together in groups, and they can even come in an hour before school starts. 2. Michigan Works! hosts job fair today

help_wantedFour different employers looking to fill 102 positions will be at a job fair today from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. that the Ottawa County Michigan Works! Holland Service Center will host. The companies looking to hire new employees are: Allied Business Services, Forge Staffing, Blu Perspective, and Effex Management Solutions, which is hiring for Magna Mirrors in Holland. Each employer will be at the center at different times during the day and Blu Perspective will hire for positions on site. Be prepared with a resume and for a brief interview. 3. ‘Survivor’ singer Jimi Jamison dies

The lead singer of Survivor, Jimi Jamison, has passed away. The band released a statement on its official Facebook page, saying that the entire Survivor family was shocked and saddened by Jamison’s passing. He joined the band in 1984 after the band released its No.1 hit, “Eye of the Tiger.” He sang on five Top 20 singles and provided vocals for “I Can’t Hold Back,” “High on You,” and “Is This Love.” Jamison was 63. 4. How to stay private in the ‘cloud’

using computer genericIn the wake of several female celebrities who were targeted by an online nude photo scandal, a local expert is offering tips on how to keep information private when using Apple’s iCloud. Many of us sync several devices to iCloud, and tech expert Aaron Vanderwall said that unless you delete an old device from your iCloud account, that data will stay there and will be available. The FBI is now investigating how the photos were leaked online and actress Jennifer Lawrence has already threatened to sue any website that posts the pictures. 5. Kraft Singles recalled

kraft singlesBefore packing school lunches for the kids, be sure to check the label of the cheese you may use. Kraft Foods Group has recalled 7, 691 cases of Kraft American Singles because one of the ingredients was stored at the incorrect temperature and could spoil before the expiration date.
