BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The family of a murdered mother of three is holding a fundraiser to help pay for her funeral costs.
The fundraiser for Nicole Gates will be held from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday at The Warehouse, 1299 Colombia Ave. E. There will be a raffle and a live band at the event.
Gates, 27, was killed early Wednesday morning while working at the Citgo gas station on M-89 at Hussey Avenue.
Shawn Pike, 30, was charged Thursday with felony murder and being a habitual offender in connection with her death. Investigators say the motive was robbery, and that he stole cash, cigarettes, beer, lottery tickets and her car.
