KALAMAZOO, Mich. (July 11, 2014) — Police have arrested a teenager who they say was carrying a concealed handgun in a Kalamazoo neighborhood.
A concerned citizen called police on Thursday at around 9:45 p.m. to report a young male carrying a gun in the Edison neighborhood. When officers arrived, they spotted a subject matching that description walking onto the front porch of a residence. They approached him to speak with him, but he ran into the house.
The officers were able to arrest him from just inside the doorway. That’s when they recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun in his waistband. The house he ran into was not his, and the residents have no known associations with the suspect.
The 15-year-old was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home on charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting and Obstructing, and Illegal Entry.
