CASS COUNTY, Mich. (July 4, 2014) — A man from South Haven was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries, after police say his motorcycle wrecked into a ditch. He was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol may have played a role.
The accident happened Thursday night on M-40 north of Dutch Settlement in Marcellus Township. Jerry Hartsfield, 71, was heading north when he lost control of his motorcycle, left the road, and crashed into a ditch. He was last listed in critical condition.
Police say there was no helmet at the scene, and have reason to believe alcohol may have been a factor.
