KENT COUNTY, Mich. (June 25, 2014) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department believes an armed robbery Monday at Bailey’s General Store, 6051 Belding Rd. NE, was staged by the clerk and an acquaintance.
According to a press release, the clerk, 28-year-old Shawn Michael Young of Wyoming, is facing charges of false report of a felony, conspiracy to commit larceny in a building and embezzlement between $200 and $1,000. He is being charged as a fourth-time habitual offender.
His alleged accomplice, 43-year-old John Towne of Belding, is charged with larceny and conspiracy to embezzle between $200 and $1,000. He’s also being charged as a fourth-time habitual offender.
Both men were arrested Tuesday in Ionia County, according to a release. They are both being held on a $25,000 bond.
