THREE RIVERS, Mich. (June 16, 2014) — A man faces half a dozen felonies after police say he assaulted a woman with a gun, pointed that gun at a child, and ran off as officers fired their own weapons at him.
The incident happened late Sunday night on Hov Air Drive. Police responded to reports of a man assaulting a woman with a gun. When officers arrived, they commanded him to drop the weapon, but he ran away while still holding the gun. The officers discharged their firearms at him, but missed.
Additional investigation revealed that the suspect had pointed the gun at three people in total: two adults and a three-year-old child. One of the adult victims suffered minor injuries in the incident, which stemmed from an argument over a child (not the aforementioned three-year-old).
Several hours later, police received a tip on the location of the suspect in the Centreville area. He was taken into custody without further incident, and will be charged with three counts of Felonious Assault and three counts of Felony Firearm.
