GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (May 30, 2014) — A man has died and a woman was injured following a crash in Geneva Township.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Jason Woodall, from South Haven, was driving south on County Road 687 when he lost control of his pickup and rolled over.
Woodall was trapped in the vehicle, and as deputies an EMS responders arrived, they found Woodall, still trapped in the truck, had died from injuries believed to be from the crash. Cassandra Hayes of Bangor, 20, was his passenger and had injuries related to the crash.
A 21-year-old man from South Haven was also at the crash scene and police say he was found to be driving another vehicle that was possibly involved in the crash. Police say both drivers were headed in the same direction along County Road 687.
Police say the 21-year-old became aggressive with EMS staff and police officers at the scene, and was eventually arrested for obstructing a police officer and the investigation. His name has been withheld.
