Person Flees From Police, Later Crashes Vehicle

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (May 24, 2014)- One person is in the Kalamazoo County Jail after running from police and later crashing their vehicle in Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon.

According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on E. Michigan Ave. near River Street in Comstock Township on a moving violation when the driver took off from the deputies. The vehicle was able to get away, but was found a short time later crashed in the 1700 block of Palmer Street in Kalamazoo.

The driver was arrested after a short foot pursuit with officers.

The chase started around 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Meth lab components, methamphetamine and marijuana were found in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail on outstanding warrants as well as Meth Lab charges, possession of Methamphetamine, Flee and Elude, and Resisting and Obstructing officers.
