Hit-And-Run Driver Flees After Striking School Bus

HOPKINS, Mich. — The Michigan State Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying the driver of a hit-and-run vehicle.

The crash occurred at 3:55 p.m. Friday when a Hopkins Public School bus was struck while sitting at a stop sign at 138th Avenue and 30th Street. There were eight elementary-school children on board but no injuries reported.

The driver of the suspect vehicle hit the rear of the bus, then drove around the bus to the right and over the stop sign at the intersection. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on 30th Street with heavy front-end damage.

Witnesses described the vehicle as being an older four-door white sedan that was believed to be a Pontiac Bonneville.
