COLLEGE STATION, Texas (May 14, 2014) — A Texas woman found a terrifying surprise in her bathroom when she went to investigate strange sounds in the middle of the night.
When Veronica Rodriguez flipped on her bathroom light May 4, she found a huge African python slithering around, according to The Eaglenewspaper that covers the College Station area where the incident happened.
Rodriguez says she slammed the door shut and ran out of her home. She then called the police and her brother.
“When I opened her bathroom door, there was a 12-foot python,” College Station Officer Tony Gonzales told The Eagle. “I didn’t know what I was going to do with a snake that large.”
Rodriguez believes she left her back door open and the python crawled into the house.
“When the officer showed up, he came with a brown paper sack,” she told The Eagle. “I told him, ‘You’re going to need a bigger sack than that.'”
Police eventually captured the snake using a trash can as a makeshift shelter. Animal control officers picked it up and took it to a reptile rescue facility before its owner claimed it and took it home.
Rodriguez says she’s making sure she closes all the doors at home from now on.
