MCCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. (May 13, 2014) — It was a close call for some storm chasers on Sunday when a tornado blew some farm equipment into their vehicle, smashing in the windshield.
The chasers in Nebraska spotted a tornado in the distance, then another tornado formed in the field right beside them, blowing over a large piece of irrigation equipment.
This was on Sunday around 5:00 p.m. local time in Nebraska near McCool Junction. No one was hurt. Storm chaser George Kourounis says he tried to turn into the wind because “it was pushing us around like crazy.”
He also says the windshield to the vehicle has been repaired and the side mirror has been taped back on.
